Marcantonio, la cui ricerca da sempre indaga le connessioni tra Uomo e Natura, ha immaginato la scultura – realizzata in legno di betulla laccato – come parte integrante della natura: "Animale - Vegetale" si sviluppa infatti intorno ad un albero del bosco, proprio a simboleggiare la sua appartenenza al Parco: l’opera trae ispirazione dalla natura, da cui nasce concettualmente e fisicamente.
“Forse amiamo gli alberi perché ci ricordano molti sistemi, come ad esempio le nostre vene, le nostre conoscenze, il nostro sistema nervoso, o le possibilità della nostra vita, in cui ogni diramazione e ogni scelta porta ad uno scenario diverso.
Il concetto di "animale - vegetale" è un tema su cui sto lavorando: amo il mondo animale e il mondo vegetale e fantastico su una loro commistione. Durante l’evoluzione la cellula vegetale e quella animale si sono sviluppate diversamente ma in realtà ciò che le differenzia è solo un corpuscolo, il cloroplasto. Per il resto sono uguali.
Il mondo vegetale è più antico del nostro e molti degli alberi del Parco sono più vecchi di noi, continuano a produrre l’ossigeno che alimenta la nostra vita. Perché non dare a questo Parco il nostro cuore? Un cuore che come vene ha i rami di un albero, anche per ricordarci che vegetale e animale sono un tutt’uno”.

Marcantonio, whose research has always investigated the connections between Man and Nature, imagined the sculpture - made of lacquered birch wood - as an integral part of nature: "Animale - Vegetale" in fact develops around a tree in the forest, right at symbolize its belonging to the Park: the work draws inspiration from nature, from which it is born conceptually and physically.
“Perhaps we love trees because they remind us of many systems, such as our veins, our knowledge, our nervous system, or the possibilities of our life, in which each branch and each choice leads to a different scenario.
The concept of "animal - vegetal" is a theme I am working on: I love the animal world and the vegetal world and I fantasize about their mixture. During evolution, the plant cell and the animal cell developed differently but in reality what differentiates them is only a corpuscle, the chloroplast. For the rest they are the same.
The plant world is older than ours and many of the trees in the Park are older than us, they continue to produce the oxygen that fuels our life. Why not give this Park our heart? A heart that has the branches of a tree like veins, also to remind us that animal and vegetal are one."
